Cyprus Souvenirs

Souvenirs

Handicrafts - ceramics, basketry, weaving, wood carving, silver and copper products all represent the souvenirs from Cyprus. If you are lucky, you can make some really good bargains.

Ceramics are also very popular, with potteries in all the major towns offering a wide selection of brightly painted pots, plates and other gift items. High on many tourist shopping list is the famous Cyprus Delight, and visitors can visit the many workshops around the island that produce it, for a free taste and to see how it is made.

Bargaining

It is not a regular feature of Cypriot life, except in the case of any souvenir purchase where price is not labelled. However, you should not expect the vendor to cut down the price more than twenty percent from their opening bid.

Troodos mountains Cyprus The Troodos mountains are located in the centre of the island. The higher mountain is called Olympos and its top is called Hionistra. Hionistra has a height of 1952 meters (6404 feet). Pentadaktilos, the other mountain-chain in Cyprus is located in the north Cyprus. This rocky five finger mountain rises 700 meters above sea level and harbours the legend of the Byzantine hero Digenis, who defeated the invading Arabs with supernatural strength.
